Katie went into labor in September and gave birth at just 28 weeks. Miles "Liam" was named in memory of his courageous cousin Liam. Miles and Quinn spent 2 months in the NICU as "feeder/growers" who were thriving and were discharged in time for Thanksgiving Shortly after Thanksgiving, Miles was brought to Children's Memorial via ambulance and had immediate surgery. Within 24 hours, Miles entire bowel had died and the family elected not to pursue treatment. Shortly after Miles death, Katie and Bryan brought their son Quinn back to Children's and to Dr. Barsness for surgery on a double hernia. He is now thriving.
